The previous National Championship has come to a close, with the Georgia Bulldogs being named the victor. Georgia won 33-18 and now, talks of the 2022-2023 National Championship are underway

Both Georgia and Alabama will lose some key players to the NFL Draft, so who are the favorites? Surprisingly enough, both of them currently lead the odds for the title.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that they’re the guaranteed winner, just that they have the best odds. We plan to take an in-depth look at the top three teams and iron out the best option.

The lines are already open, meaning you can place your wagers now. To keep you ahead of the curve, we’ll give you a rundown of the odds and a preview of the top three.

Alabama Crimson Tide (+200)

Although they lost in the National Championship in 2022, they’re still the favorite for the 2022-2023 season. We know that this might seem strange with all the players leaving, but it kind of adds up.

Alabama is constantly in the top-five college football teams; they’re also incredible at recruiting. The Crimson Tide will be right back in the playoffs with a head coach like Nick Saban.

The main question is, how far can they go?

They struggled against Georgia, who prides themselves on hard-nosed defense. Alabama will be losing Jameson Williams, John Metchie, Slade Bolden, offensive tackle Evan Neal, running back Brian Robinson Jr., and defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis. Replacing all of these players with equal talent will be a very tough task.

Georgia Bulldogs (+300)

The second-place team in the odds race is the current National Champions. The Georgia Bulldogs had an incredible season and have a favorable 2022-2023 schedule. An undefeated season could be on the horizon for the Bulldogs

Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs head coach, has vowed that Georgia will be returning to the National Championship in 2023.

He’ll actually be getting some help with that since superstar pass-rusher Nolan Smith is returning. The Georgia defense might look different, but at least they’ll have a crucial piece remaining.

Over the offseason, the Bulldogs might do some work on their offense as well, making them an even more likely winner of the National Championship in 2022-2023.

Ohio State Buckeyes (+550)

Coming in third is the Ohio State Buckeyes, who finished 11-2 last season. The Buckeyes have a strong core group but were unable to get a win over No. 5 Michigan last year.

They’ve lost a few players as we head into the 2022-2023 season as well. The thing about Ohio State is they always find a way to recruit spectacular players.

However, even with the players that’ll make the Buckeyes better, we don’t see them taking down the other two favorites. Georgia and Alabama both have too much talent and incredible coaching to go along with it.

The Georgia defense won’t have much trouble if they were to face the Buckeyes. The other two favorites are much safer bets than the Buckeyes.

List of remaining Top 10

  • Clemson +1000
  • Texas A&M +3000
  • Oklahoma +3000
  • Michigan +4000
  • USC +5000
  • Oregon +6000
  • Florida +6000

As you can see, there is a massive jump in the odds from Ohio State to Clemson. However, each of the above teams had a relatively remarkable season in 2022.

Clemson is one of the “dark horse” favorites, and for good reason. Their offense is rising, and Hunter Johnson is returning to Clemson from Northwestern. If you’re choosing an underdog, we’d go with them.

As far as the favorites go, we’d lean towards the Georgia Bulldogs.

They’re built on great defense, and they’ll supplement that with a better offense this season. They also have a favorable schedule, which will work to their advantage in 2022.

Nothing is set in stone, but Kirby Smart has put his mind to getting another National Championship in 2022-2023.
