The 2022 Major League Baseball schedule provides another day for teams to move up their division ladders and chase a postseason berth, but most importantly, another day for bettors to try their hand against the oddsmakers.

The New York Yankees continue to reward their bettors’ trust, while the Texas Rangers scored a surprise win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

With yesterday’s headlines fading fast, here are the best games to bet on Wednesday, May 4.

New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays

This might be the Yankees year. They look fresh and refined and have found different ways to win games, which they were not capable of as recently as last season. The pin stripers are also playing with supreme confidence, having won 11 games in a row and two against the Blue Jays, and do not look keen on slowing down any time soon.

The counterargument for this bet is that Toronto is one of the few teams who can consistently trouble the Yanks, who are bound to lose eventually, but they have not shown any real signs that they can beat New York in this series. They were blown off the field yesterday and did not convert in crunch time in game one, so the favor has to be in favor of the visiting Yanks. Even worse for Jays fans, Yusei Kikuchi will have to square off with Nestor Cortes, who has a 1.31 ERA this season.

Minnesota Twins vs Baltimore Orioles

The Twins are on a four-game win streak and have quietly won 11 of their last 12 outings, moving them to 15-9 on the season and first in the American League Central. They outscored the Orioles by a combined 9-3 in the first two games of the current series and have been getting it done on both ends. Minnesota will also trot Dylan Bundy onto the mound, giving them confidence from the onset.

Baltimore was on the verge of a turnaround after taking two of three off the Boston Red Sox in the series prior, but they have since resorted to their past inferior self. Baltimore has twice as many losses as wins thus far and has a losing record at home, so even if rookie Kyle Bradish can follow up his impressive debut with a similar performance, it is unlikely to make any real difference in the final outcome.

Texas Rangers vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Rangers have won three straight games but are set up to have that streak broken today by the Phillies, who were defeated in game one of the series. Philadelphia will have the opportunity to start Zack Wheeler who, although he has not had the best start to his year individually, has been one of the steadiest pitchers in the league in recent years.

Texas has been terrible in the box this season, so the recent blip in the radar should be viewed as nothing more than a nice stretch for their fans; watch for them to struggle against Wheeler and for Phili to score a convincing win.
