A Teaser gives you extra points against the spread.
What is a teaser bet? How does a teaser bet work? A teaser is a type of Football or Basketball bet that new bettors should learn how to use at their sportsbook. A teaser is like a parlay, but you get extra points added to spreads and over unders in your favor. Steve Clark explains how teasers work in this edition of ‘How To Bet’.

Yes, at most sportsbooks you can combine football and basketball spreads and totals into the same teaser.
Over Unders can be teased at almost any sportsbook. However, individual team totals and prop totals cannot be put in a teaser.
Time needed: 1 minute.
How to place a teaser bet.
- Pick 2 or more basketball or football spreads and/or totals.
Select between 2 – 8 legs for your teaser. The more legs you pick, the higher your payout will go if they all hit. You can pick from any football or basketball odds including both professional and college.
- Decide how many points you want in your teaser.
Most sportsbooks offer 6, 6.5 and 7 point teaser options. The more points you take, the lower your payout will be if all the legs of the teaser win. You wills see a drop down menu on your bet slip.
- Place your bet and see what happens with each game.
The spreads or totals that you picked as teaser legs are now padded by 6 points, 6.5 or 7 points in your favor. If all the legs win, so do you. But if one or more pushes (ties), then the whole bet pushes if the other legs win.
